The most common metal used is 14K and 18K gold in the many variations of colors. In 18K gold your engagement ring will have more gold in it. First you can not make jewelry out of 24K gold. 24K gold is pure gold and is way to soft to hold a sophisticated design. So you have to add other alloys (metals) to the gold to make it hold it’s form. In 14K gold you get 58.3% pure gold and 41.7% other metals. In 18K gold you get 75% pure gold and 25% other metals. That’s why there’s a price difference. However, there’s more to it than “more gold”.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_raw_html]JTNDaDMlMjBjbGFzcyUzRCUyMm91dGxpbmUyJTIyJTIwc3R5bGUlM0QlMjJtYXJnaW4tdG9wJTNBNDBweCUzQiUyMiUzRVdoYXQlMjBkb2VzJTIwJUUyJTgwJTlDTW9yZSUyMEdvbGQlRTIlODAlOUQlMjBhY3R1YWxseSUyMG1lYW4lM0YlM0MlMkZoMyUzRQ==[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The more gold you have in your engagement ring, the weaker it actually is. Meaning if you accidentally drop your ring, or hit it against anything hard, like a wall, there’s a much better chance that you’ll dent, damage, or change the shape of the ring. So in reality if you buy anything in 18K gold you get more gold, but you’re also getting a weaker product.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_raw_html]JTNDaDMlMjBjbGFzcyUzRCUyMm91dGxpbmUyJTIyJTIwc3R5bGUlM0QlMjJtYXJnaW4tdG9wJTNBNDBweCUzQiUyMiUzRVdoYXQlMjBhcmUlMjB0aGUlMjBvdGhlciUyMG1ldGFscyUyMG9yJTIwYWxsb3lzJTIwaW4lMjBHb2xkJTNGJTNDJTJGaDMlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]There’s a few other thing you need to look at. What are the other metals in your ring? This is important because many people will have allergic reaction to the other metals. The biggest three alloys used in gold is Copper, Zinc, and Nickel. These are usually added in equal parts as possible however they can be unbalanced. Such as if you had in more copper you’ll get Rose Gold, if had in more Zinc and Nickel you get a more Green Gold. However these metals are not hypo allergenic if you’re allergic to these metals you should definitely look into Palladium and / or Platinum.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_raw_html]JTNDaDMlMjBjbGFzcyUzRCUyMm91dGxpbmUyJTIyJTIwc3R5bGUlM0QlMjJtYXJnaW4tdG9wJTNBNDBweCUzQiUyMiUzRVdoYXQlMjBhYm91dCUyMHRoZSUyMGFsdGVybmF0aXZlcyUyMHRvJTIwZ29sZCUzRiUzQyUyRmgzJTNF[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]In Palladium engagement rings you avoid all the extra metals. You can a very durable metal, a color that is more brilliant than white gold, is more precious and rare, and it costs about the same as 18K gold. If you chose to go with a Platinum engagement ring, you’ll get an even more rare and durable metal than gold. Hypo allergenic, looks beautiful however the cost is quite a bit more.
